Sequence board

Our parents had asked us to make on of these boards after playing it with some friends. Jumping into this project and not knowing what the game was or how to play. The first board we made didn't turn out the way we wanted, after learning from our mistakes we decided to try our hand at it again.

(this is our first board)

We started by cutting a piece of plywood down into a 2x2' square, this was challenging I must say having a small table saw and a huge piece of wood, but we got it done...

There he is hard at work making sure all the lines are perfectly straight

We took  1x1x12 ft. piece of pine and cut it down so we had 2" blocks for the corners, routed each corner with a chamfer bit

After that we took some 1-1/2"x8 ft pine and cut it to 4-1 3/4' length so it would go around the edges of the board.

Clamped those bad boys together with a sacrificial piece on the end to reduce ripping.

We went to town measuring the cuts every 1/2" so they would be evenly spaced.  We found going faster with the cut actually reduced the burning of the wood.

I know it doesn't look pretty there, but once they are sanded down they look awesome.

I love that my husband does most of the grunt work :)

took the pieces that we cut and glued them to the board
Filled with a little wood filler around all the inside edges
 It looks great already!
 We stained the board
 I love that color

Then came the gruling task of cutting 2 decks of cards so they were  1 1/2".
Thank goodness for paper cutters!!!

Took wood glue and layed out the card pattern and glued them down to the board, let it dry over night...

We wanted to use a protective coating on top of the cards so we decided to use polycrylic because it's water based (the oil based gave it a antique look, like the first one, and that is not what we were going for with this one) and we made sure to apply two coats.
Here it is in all of its glory ready to play!

Tada! That's all for now folks, thanks for checking us out.
